Meeting Home

In WHO AM I – Part One until Three I explained my story moving from Kosovo to Germany, finishing my different school stages, completed university, got employed and finally found my way to become self-employed. I´m often thinking about the chain of opportunities making myelf able to reach all the things I´m thankful for. I enjoy the proudness of my parents, the great support by my brother and my own family first lifestyle. But there was a dark side of all this as well. The first time I travelled to my home country Kosovo in 2007, I found a place in a mess by war aftermath. I experienced a desperate youth, unemployed and without any perspective. But the worst thing, I accepted what I saw and was just happy to live in Germany.

Confused and Lost

Waking up

In 2015, years later, my brother travelled with his company to Kosovo to check the spot for establishing a branch office. With this move, a whole new perspective was opened to us by seeing what has happened in Prishtina the last years. A lot of young people took the chance provided by foreign country support to build up networks, startups and finally jobs by projects, in and out of Kosovo. At that point I realized that we personally have failed. Failed because we didn’t care about the situation in this country. Failed because we were unaware of our responsibility to help instead of judging and building up distance. Failed because we forgot where we came from and that we were lucky by different situations to lead the life we are leading in Germany.

Turnaround

By becoming a freelancer I brought myself to the position to decide by my own about what projects I will start in future. And one of them I would called Project Kosovo. So here I was, back home, it was May 2018. In only one week I was overwhelmed by the youth, their will and their choice to make a difference in the country. I met so many people who gave me the signal to just give them an opportunity and they will show what their ambitions and skills to the world. It´s exactly about that. Giving the opportunity to be part of something bigger. Being responsible. Making a difference.

Bring hope back

After thinking a lot of this new perspective I felt a deep need to support the people in Kosovo. To create job opportunities that are not determined by vitamin C (connections). To activate the potential of the population that has a high youth rate but also a high unemployment rate. To show to the people that someone is taking care. The KosovoCircle was born.

Values

The KosovoCircle is build up on some fundamental values:

  • Gratitude
  • Community over Competition
  • Self-Determination / Self-confidence
  • Potential activation by opportunities and guidance
  • Responsibility
  • Share&Care world view

Purpose

The initiative wants to achieve the creation of projects by building a platform to connect all Albanians that are living in Germany, Austria or Switzerland (stage one) to collaborate and starting projects by partially or full outsourcing them to Kosovo. This don´t mean that just Albanians can work on the projects, but the Albanian community has to be the trigger. By starting these projects there will be jobs created fulfilled by outsourcing and collaborational tools.

Vision

It should be the main mission to offer jobs to people who are willing to work. Increasing the employment rate will mean increasing self-confidence of the people and adding more value to the population.

Strategy

Bringing together different people with different mindsets and knowledge on a platform will unleash a high number of opportunities. We want to start sustainable and valuable projects for sharing with employees from Kosovo to create useful products and services at the same time. The community members will improve thereselves on the way and share new experiences with each other.

Some of us are living a good life. We should be thankful for that. But some problems still aren´t solved. We can change that. We can do things that are greater than ourselves. We can make a difference.
